Founded in 2005 by former professional figure skaters from Canada, Montreal-based Le Patin Libre redefines the discipline. The first company of its kind, the troupe blends the athleticism of skating with the expressivity of contemporary dance and the energy of urban dance, creating stunning performances that explore the theatrical potential of ice skating.
But wait — PRAx doesn’t have an ice rink! So Melt, the company’s bold new creation, imagines a scorched, postapocalyptic world where the dancers perform on ... roller skates, gliding through the wreckage, searching for joy, connection and a way forward. Experience dance on wheels in a blend of raw emotion, adept physicality, witty humor and the beauty of movement in unlikely places.
Melt will be followed by a roller-skating post-show in the Ray Theater. Bring your skates to dance with Le Patin Libre!
