''Alternative'' it is not another ice-skating show. It is the finally accomplished appearance of an artistic movement: the Skating New Wave.

For several years now, the troop LE PATIN LIBRE has worked on the creation of this new shape of show on ice. The goal of these senior artists and high level skaters is to finally touch, impress and entertain the general public and the amateurs of high-level artistic entertainment. After long sustained efforts against the traditional ice-skating tradition, the troop is finally ready to present its first full feature show. The 90 minutes show will make an original and surprizing mark in the history of ice shows …

“Alternative” will be the first big magnitude ice skating show to be entirely created and produced by a collective of skaters and independent artists.

Before arriving at its current level, the troop        evolved through smaller events.

This performance tests multidisciplinary acrobatics. It helped us take another step toward “Alternative” It launched the festivities of an Halloween party on ice organized by the troop in 2007. The arena of 500 seats was sold out...

SHAWN SAWYER ACCEPTS TO FACE "LE PATIN LIBRE" IN AN ICE DUEL!

Shawn Sawyer represented Canada at the last Olympics games in Torino. He will now defend the figure skating tradition in an ice duel opposing him to the Skating New Wave skaters of the troop. The exciting battle will be filled with the most advanced stunts of both traditional and New Wave skating. It's a one time face to face any figure skating fan can't miss...

Little Man

Sylvain Bouillère, a dedicated skating artist, will present his new creation casting a tender look on the passing of the culture of skating from a generation to the next. This highly poetical piece demonstrates how high level skating can be more than entertainment or sport. It is also a artistic medium able to express emotions and thoughts and to touch spectators deeply.

The Conductor 2

In 2004, a strange character appears at the Senior Canadian Championships. The conductor mesmerized the judges and charmed an audience laughing more than they ever did during a skating performance.

It is said that he once took a skate off during a performance.

He toured with his rebel orchestra during 4 years. At the public's request, he is now back in Canada with a new symphony...

...worse than the first one.

Twining

Mylène Girard and Liam Dougherty are the weirdest and most exciting thing that happened to ice dancing since the Duchesnays.

They will present a performance using a new "illegal in competition" skating technique.
